Using the right keywords in your site content attracts the right readers and produces the desired results. For instance, if you are in the business of selling ladies’ wear online, you want to attract the ladies. In this case, “ladies” is most probably your keyword. Without including this keyword in your posts, you are likely to end up with hundreds of site visitors but zero return on sales. This is a simple example of the power of keywords and this is where a little keyword research goes a long way. Read on for your definitive guide to incorporating the right keywords in your content.

1. Use online resources

How do you know which keywords to use? Luckily, there are many useful resources for this purpose. Google AdWords Keyword Planner Tool, for example, is a platform where you can search for keyword ideas. You can even see the performance of the keywords and come up with your own keyword list by mixing different keyword lists together. Another great resource is Bing Ads Intelligence tool. These resources show you exactly which keywords to use to make your site rank high for SEO.

2. Keep an eye on competitors

Try to find out what keywords your business rivals are using to rank their sites. This will allow you to evaluate you’re the keywords that you are using for your content. You might find that you need to improve on a certain keyword that your competitor is using so you may rank higher. One simple way of finding out what keywords your rivals are using is carrying out a manual search in your browser. It provides a fairly good idea of your position relative to your competitors.

3. Use synonyms

SEO goals are often destroyed by the overuse of keywords. In simple terms, Google does not like that at all. So, what if you are writing a post with the keyword “process” and you can only use the term 3 times? It’s easy. You find synonyms. In this case, words such as “strategy” or yet, “method” can be used. It is a good idea to come up with some sort of checklist. For this, you may use thesaurus.com and search for the term for alternatives.

Here you are!

There are many ways to go about your keyword research. Using these three tips, however, will provide you with the basic essentials you need to have a high SEO ranking. Thanks to our partners in SEM Singapore for the help.
